Independence Day

I want to try everything
even though I could fail
even though I could get hurt
even though I might learn it's not right for me
I'll never really know unless I try
I'll never really succeed
if I never really risk failing

I want to push through the low self-worth
find my worth, claim it
cherish it
I want to say yes to friends more
be places I might get asked more
go out with friends more
invite friends more
Dare to throw a party
even though no-one might come

I want to learn to swim
Even though I am scared of the water
Go to the fair
Go to a ball game
Go to a concert
Even though I am scared of the crowds

I want to be with people
who make it feel safe
to risk embarrassing myself
maybe even a little fun
to risk embarrassing myself
People who love me

I don't want to leave
until I've tried everything
even though I could fail

Potential

There is a seed
that is yet to sprout

There is a flower
that is yet to open

There are wings
that are yet to be tested

There is a spark
that is yet to light its flame

There is a spring
that is yet to carve its river

There is a Star
that is yet to become a Sun

O Lord, O Lady, Great Divine
May I have courage, may I have strength
to

let go

and allow

the possibilities

to become

reality

Anomalous

How silly of me
to have imagined
I belonged someplace

The only place
I have ever felt
I truly belonged
was with my Joanne

but now
she is
gone.

Mourningstar

I am the Mountain
I am strong, resolute
I am immovable, unshakeable
I am the higher ground
I am the shelter from the storm.
yet do those who take shelter in me
know of the smoldering fire deep inside?

I am the Fire
I am the candle, I am the lamp
I am the hearth, I am the forge
I am purifying, sustaining
I am the warmth that brings comfort.
yet if I break my bonds, only ashes shall remain
in the wake of the firestorm

I am the Storm
I am the lightning and the thunder
I am the wind and the rain
I am the rage and the fury
I am the dreadful Hand of God.
yet life spreads behind me in my wake
from my waters of life and energies of rebirth

Elemental

I am the water
freely flowing
bubbling along

soothing, refreshing
healing
life-giving

but what about when
going with the flow
is wrong?

My world is rocked
waves crash
back and forth
out of control
need to stop the waves
need to hold my ground
but my ground
is not there
to hold.

Water can be strong
Water can be like the ground
But only if it is very cold
frozen

I can be the ice
but being cold is painful too
and the world hates the ice
it chips away at it
tries to break it
melt it

Is this my choice?
Be swept along with the waves
or be the glacier of ice?

Maybe someday the storm will die down
maybe the waves will not crash as hard
and then I can just be the water
freely flowing
bubbling along

Elegy of the Dark

I am the darkness.
Weary.  Jaded.  Irritated.
Bored with the games people play
People are selfish
deceptive

Rage builds
They are worthless
They are parasites
They are vampires
They are evil
They take
And take
And never give
      anything
         at
            all.

The darkness is new
I don't remember choosing it
But how can I flow through a sea
of dark toxins
black poisons
and vile parasites
without getting stained?

So many energies
all of them dark
But which one is mine?
Dread creeps in
I am lost
in a land of vampires.

Dark cannot fight dark
Dark is dark
Dark gets lost in the dark
Dark is not the way

     ...but then...

light must be the way.
light shines through dark
banishes it
vanquishes it

I found my star
it is faint
but I see it
It is shining
it will show the way back
Now my Moon will glow
Soon my Sun will blaze again

Our star is somewhere else's sun
What if my Sun is someone else's Star?

What if they are lost too?
What if they are not dark by choice?
What if they have become parasites
    only to survive?
What if they wished they could find the way
    out of the darkness?
What if they are flailing
    drowning
        in the dark sea
             because they can't
                  find their star?

I will not be the darkness.
I will be the Star.

The Wheel Turns Anew

We give thanks, for the dawn has broken!
The newborn Sun has vanquished the horrible night!
And though winter's chill is still to come,
We are strengthened by its light.

We honor the Morrigan in this time of cold
We welcome Bridghid as she is born anew
We honor the Caelleach and her wisdom of old
And give thanks for the skills given us by Lugh.

The Darkest Longest Night

The moon is new on the Longest Night;
the darkness is complete.
So as we await the Yule morn's light
we retreat to our hearth for heat.

We ask Your blessing on our flame,
that it last till the Night is done,
And we give thanks for the blessings we have
as we await the sun.
